Deb Mitchell

FRNZCGP MB ChB DCH

I grew up on a small farm north of Auckland, before moving to Dunedin for university. I graduated from Otago Medical School in 1997. I then spent my postgraduate years in hospitals in Palmerston North and Christchurch, working in a variety of medical and surgical specialties. I gained specific postgraduate qualifications in Children’s Health and Women’s Health. I began my General Practice training in 2003 and gained full Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners in 2011.

My husband is also from Auckland, although we met in Palmerston North! We moved back to Auckland in 2003 when we needed grandparents for our 2 children. Our children happily share our love of skiing and tramping that we developed whilst living in the South Island.

I enjoy all aspects of general practice, especially Paediatrics and Women’s Health. Recently I have also developed an interest in Travel Medicine and Dermatoscopy.

I joined the team at Green Bay Medical Centre in Jan 2014. I generally work Mondays and Thursdays, caring for my own enrolled patients and providing cover for Dr Ona and Dr Therese on their days off. When I am not at GBMC, I am working as a Lead Medical Educator for the GP registrar training programme
